T-Mobile has launched an Android app that aims to help businesses in the UK share information about their products with each other and their customers.
T-Mobile shareAnywhere enables users to share presentations in the form of images from any phone that supports the Android operating system, including the G1, G2 Touch and Pulse from HTC.
Presentations can be created and updated by any member of the team through a centralised website, which T-Mobile believes will make mobile workers more productive as they will not have to return to the office to ensure that the presentation on their phone is the most up to date.
“We have developed an information sharing tool which will help our small business customers to make the most of their Android phones and drive productivity benefits when on the move,” said Max Taylor, head of business marketing, T-Mobile UK. “It’s just one example of how small businesses can put Android applications to good use promoting their goods and services and we’d encourage everyone to explore the potential of the growing number of Android applications.”
The app was designed after T-Mobile ran a focus group of users to discover which mobile applications would benefit their business. A Suite That Fits.com, an online tailored suit company, was part of the focus group and has been trialling shareAnywhere.
Workers on the move are now able to show the latest designs, cuts, fabrics, styles and pricing to potential customers. “Customers appreciate the personal touch and shareAnywhere gives our staff in the field the added ability to quickly prepare a presentation tailored to the individual customer, without having to return to the office,” said Warren Bennett, co-founder of A Suit That Fits.com.
The Google-powered Android platform has been gaining plenty of market share recently, with a number of mobile phones now supporting it. Alongside the smartphones from HTC, it will also run on Motorola’s new smartphone, called the Droid and known as the Milestone in the UK.

The Android app store, called Android Market, currently holds around 12,000 titles, way behind Apple’s App Store, which currently stocks over 100,000 apps.
