Snapchat hits 6 billion daily video views

News: The company is catching up to Facebook, which is handling 8 billion videos views per day.

By CBR Staff Writer

Snapchat now has 6 billion videos views per day, up from 2 billion in May.

The video messaging app developer is catching up to Facebook, which is handling 8 billion videos views per day.

Snapchat tripled its daily video views since May, which could help the company increase its revenue significantly.

The move will allow the company to go public soon as its views are closing the gap with Facebook.

Earlier this year, Snapchat CEO and co-founder Evan Spiegel said that they plan to make the company public at some point.

Snapchat rejected a $3bn acquisition offer from Facebook in 2013. In March, Chinese e-commerce firm Alibaba invested $200m into Snapchat in a deal that valued the video messaging app at $15bn.

Snapchat recently acquired facial recognition startup Looksery, which delivers marketing solutions to OEM’s, brands, make-up companies, call centres, and other industries.
