New CEO Yangkyu Kim succeeds CS Choi

By CBR Staff Writer

Samsung Electronics America (SEA) has appointed Yangkyu Kim as its new president and CEO.

Kim succeeds CS Choi, who will return to Korea as an executive advisor to Samsung’s global vice chairman and CEO GS Choi.

In his new role, Kim will be responsible for overseeing the company’s operations in the US, Canada and Mexico.

Kim comes to SEA from Samsung Headquarters in Korea, where he held the position of senior vice president and head of global sales and marketing for the Visual Display Business for the past two years.

Kim was head of mobile phone sales and marketing for Europe, during which time Samsung’s mobile phone business achieved the number two global market share position.

Over the course of his 24-year career with Samsung, Kim has held several prominent positions within the organisation, including president of Samsung Electronics Philippines and president of Samsung Electronics France for five years.
