Salesforce opens first UK data centre

First of three European DC's will be powered by renewable energy, claims Salesforce.

By Ben Sullivan

Salesforce has cut the ribbon to its UK data centre, the first of three planned in Europe.

Salesforce claims that the data centre is will eventually be powered by 100% renewable energy sources, which support the sustainability goals of the CRM provider.

Andrew Lawson, SVP for Salesforce UK and Ireland, said: "The new data centre will support the unprecedented growth we’ve seen in the region and further accelerates the adoption of cloud, social and mobile technologies, empowering U.K. companies to connect with their customers in a whole new way."

In addition to this UK data centre, Salesforce is planning to open buildings in both France and Germany next year to support the growth of its cloud strategy in the region.
