Retweet with comment feature launched for iPhone and website

The feature is expected to hit Android soon.

By CBR Staff Writer

Twitter has rolled out the "retweet with comment" feature to Twitter’s site and iPhone app, a feature the microblogging site started testing last summer.

The new feature will allow users to embed a tweet in their own tweets and voice their opinion with 140-character commentary.

Users have to just click the ‘Retweet Icon’, upon which a pop-up will appear which will show the tweet and a comment box.

Users can add their own comment in the ‘Add a comment’ field, and click the tweet button to share it with their followers.

The microblogging site previously allowed users to embed quoted tweets by cutting-and-pasting URLs.

However, with "retweet with comment" users can perform the same activity with a press of a button and without having to shorten the original tweet by cutting words to accommodate their own thoughts, which also helps preserve the original content of the tweet.

The feature addresses the issue of character limitation in the site which only allows 140 characters. By adding, "retweet with comment" additional information can be passed on.
