RadiSys launches new LTE security gateway

10-15 Gbps of throughput

By CBR Staff Writer

RadiSys has launched LTE SEG, a new 3GPP Network Domain Security (NDS) compliant security gateway targeted for Long Term Evolution (LTE) deployments.

RadiSys said that the new LTE SEG with 10-15 Gbps of throughput enables high performance firewall and IPsec tunneling in a single carrier grade offering and offers a 5x performance improvement over current offerings in a fully redundant 2U system.

The new security gateway also provides a stateful firewall with IP filters and attack prevention mechanisms to protect packet core network elements.

The company said that LTE SEG supports around 4 million concurrent IP flows with pre-defined and custom filters, consistency checks and denial-of-service (DoS) prevention mechanisms.

In addition, it enables operators to enhance their existing 2G/3G mobile networks with wireless access offerings including femtocells, I-WLAN and UMA/GAN.

RadiSys VP and general manager of communications networks Anthony Ambrose said the new LTE SEG is a purpose-built security gateway that can be deployed as a standalone network element, or integrated into existing telecom equipment manufacturer products.
