Telecommunications service provider P&TLuxembourg is planning to launch ultra-fast broadband access in the Luxembourg using advanced fibre-optic technology from Alcatel-Lucent.

The new network will enhance the availability and quality of a wide array of broadband services and content for P&TLuxembourg’s subscribers.

The technology offering Alcatel-Lucent is providing PTLuxembourg is comprised of the 7360 Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM) FX, the company’s highest capacity fiber access platform.

With Alcatel-Lucent’s new network, P&TLuxembourg will improve network reliability to support all sensitive financial and business transactions that occur on its network, while exploring potential new business models and revenue opportunities that can take advantages of the enhanced network.

P&TLuxembourg Fixed Access Network Department head Serge Eiffes said by introducing ultra-fast broadband access, P&TLuxembourg is helping to ensure that Luxembourg maintains and strengthens its position as a global centre for economic activity and realising the governments National ‘external link Ultra High Broadband Strategy’.

"Alcatel-Lucent, with whom we have long collaborated around high-speed DSL, helped us to get fiber at the right pace for our business. We worked in close collaboration to assess the local market conditions, identify best practices and choose the right technology with a seamless mix of existing copper and fiber infrastructure for maximum efficiency," said Eiffes.
