Orange launches new landline service for SMBs

Online tool to route all landline calls to user’s mobile phone as voice calls, emails

By CBR Staff Writer

French telecom company Orange has launched the Pocket Landline that offers a local landline number which can route the calls directly to the user’s mobile phone.

Aimed at the small and medium sized businesses (SMBs), the new product’s location specific number eliminates the need to have a personnel physically manning the calls at the telephone.

The online tool diverts the calls to the user’s mobile phone, thereby ensuring that the user never misses a call even when he is not around the landline, the company said.

Companies, which believe that adding an area specific landline number to their business directory adds to their company’s credibility, will benefit from this service, said Orange.

Users can also opt for a voicemail system that takes messages and emails them to him as MP3 files if the user is unable to answer the calls routed through the landline everytime, and then click and listen to the voicemails when it suits them.

The telecom company, which reportedly provides GSM coverage to 99% of the UK population and 3G coverage to more than 93%, is offering the service for a monthly price structure.

One landline can be routed to up to ten mobiles or the user can have several landlines routed to a single mobile. People calling the number will not be charged more than the cost of a local landline call, Orange added.

Users of the free online tool can also create custom-made announcements for incoming calls, view useful statistics such as the geographical location of callers, the busiest times by hour, weekday and month besides the call history including call duration and time taken to answer, the company said.
