Netgear has launched ProSafe Wireless-N Dual-Band Access Point (WNDAP350), a dual-band wireless offering for growing businesses.

The company said that the ProSafe WNDAP350 enables business customers to implement mobile workplace while offering the performance required for applications that require additional bandwidth such as Voice-over-IP (VoIP), video conferencing and cloud-based applications. It supports point-to-point and point-to-multipoint bridging with Wireless Distribution System (WDS).

According to Netgear, with concurrent operation in both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz radio bands, the dual-band access point offers up to 15 times the speed and 10 times the coverage of 802.11a- and 802.11g-based networks. It avoids interference from 802.11b and 802.11g network devices while operating in the 5GHz radio band and supports bandwidth-intensive applications such as streaming video and VoIP. In addition, it is also backwards compatible with existing legacy 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g network devices.

With support for simple network management protocol (SNMP), ProSafe access point offers network management by any standards-based network management software. It can also be managed and configured using the ProSafe Control Center browser-based interface. In addition, the ProSafe access point secures the wireless network with features including WPA, WPA2, rogue AP detection and 802.1x with Radius support, the company said.

The ProSafe access point is integrated with 802.3af Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) that eliminates extra cables and enables optimal placement of access point. The metal case is plenum-rated for safe and convenient placement above drop-down ceilings and includes an anti-theft Kensington lock slot. Internal 6 dBi antennas covered by the enclosure offer cleaner look and maximum RF performance, Netgear added.
