Data centre specialist M247 has boosted its resiliency pool with a new backup generator.

The "crucial" kit was a planned addition to the firm’s own infrastructure, as it claims to continue to expand.

Operations director Jonathan Buckle said: "This new generator is crucial to M247 as we’re expanding all the time and need to maintain power redundancy in case there is a national or regional power outage.

"We hold enough fuel onsite to power our three back-up generators for a full week. Our customers need reliable and continuous power in order to run their servers and this new unit enables us to meet the predicted needs over our next phase of planned growth."

M247 has two data centres rated Tier 3 for resiliency, with some of the important resiliency aspects meeting Tier 4 standards.

The company was listed 63rd in the Sunday Times Tech Track 100 recently, and seventh in the North West.

The league table ranks Britain’s top 100 private tech businesses based on their average sales growth over three years.

Its 2013 sales hit nearly £8m, and M247 announced earlier this month that it signed a deal worth £1m with IT infrastructure specialist ANS.
