LinkedIn revamps messaging with chat-style interface

The service now has improved push and email notifications.

By CBR Staff Writer

LinkedIn has revamped its messaging service, allowing users to attach photos and documents as well as stickers, emojis and GIFs to their messages.

The company said the new messaging experience provides users with an easier and more lightweight way to have professional conversations with their connections.

A chat-style interface has been introduced for easy back and forth messaging. Users will have the ability to easily refer to the last conversation they had.

The company has also enhanced push and email notifications, similar to messaging apps like Facebook’s Messenger and WhatsApp.

LinkedIn product manager Mark Hull said in a blog post: "If you’re like me, you’re probably having more and more short-form and casual conversations with your professional peers every day.

"As you would over text or in-person, it’s now easier for you to have meaningful yet lightweight ways to reach out and light up your professional relationships through conversations."

The revamped messaging service has initially been rolled out to English-language users on iOS, Android and the desktop web experience. LinkedIn plans to make it accessible in other languages over the coming weeks.

The company is planning to offer voice and video calling with the messaging platform in the future.

Last month, LinkedIn introduced an app aimed at helping users find coworkers and learn about them.
