Supa is developing a personal navigation device (PND) that connects to the internet via GSM cellular networks. Soleus Transit, Navigation Edition is expected to provide the data connectivity and user interface framework, plus Intrinsyc’s Destinator navigation software that delivers turn-by-turn navigation with millions of points of interest.

Licensing the Soleus Transit software platform is also expected to enable Supa to develop a superior product at a lower cost. The Soleus Transit Adaptation Kit includes the components required to create a customized PND, including OS and system services, core applications, and Microsoft Platform Builder integration.

Souheil Gallouzi, senior vice president and general manager of mobile products and development at Intrinsyc, said: Soleus Transit supports persistent high-speed data connectivity that enables access to off-board content, point of interest updates, and local search while on-the-go. The bottom line is that Soleus allows Supa to add connectivity to its PND design with minimum investment and impact on bill of materials costs.
