Fans will get real-time scores and insights.

By CBR Staff Writer

IBM has teamed up with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) to provide a host of technologies to improve fan experience at the 2015 US Open tennis tournament, including real-time scores and insights.

The company has introduced predictive analytics, cloud, mobile and social technologies that will help fans to stay connected with the tournament via their mobile devices.

The innovations introduced by IBM and USTA includes IBM‘s streaming analytics technology which automatically alerts the USTA about record-breaking player achievements and milestones in real-time.

The technology also provides championship stats and personal career highlights that USTA will be able to share with fans through social media, web and news sources.

The company has also introduced the IBM SlamTracker application, which provides deeper analysis of player and ball position data, helping fans to better understand match dynamics.

IBM has also added a Social Share feature to SlamTracker, which will allow fans to share emerging match insights through Facebook.

Through the embedded social sentiment data in SlamTracker, analysis of Twitter conversations going on courtside will also be provided to fans.

SlamTracker is also capable of analysing more than 41 million data points from eight years of Grand Slam tennis match data, to identify performance indicators called the "Keys to the Match" which affects a player’s ability to succeed.

USTA Ticketing and Digital Strategy senior director Nicole Jeter West said: "Year after year, IBM’s technological expertise creates an incomparable mobile and digital experience for US Open tennis fans.

"We’re excited to partner with IBM again to push the boundaries of fan engagement and entertainment to bring the US Open to life and promote the game of tennis to fans across the globe."

Fans will also be able to access scores, in-depth analysis and live video along with other tennis stats through the US Open mobile apps that will also act as a second-screen experience for fans viewing the match on TV.
