IBM has revamped its Flex System portfolio in an attempt to help clients cut down on IT infrastructure and operating costs.
The company said the updates, including deploying latest server technology, virtualisation, networking and management tools, will allow clients to use smaller data centres to deploy, manage and secure larger clouds quickly.
Updates to the Flex System portfolio will offer choices to customers to reduce costs and invest in technologies that provide future scalability.
Offerings includes three systems built on IBM POWER7+ and a "double dense" x222 system built on its x86 servers, as well as upgrades to the Flex System Manager, which will facilitate monitoring and managing up to 5,000 infrastructure end points.
The updated Mobile Flex System Manager will help clients to monitor and control their systems from any location using smartphones or tablets, using iOS, Android and Blackberry mobile devices.
The new updates also include switches and fabrics that help clients design Software Defined Networks (SDN) and improve connectivity and performance by increasing infrastructure bandwidth up to 40GB, IBM said.
