IBM completes acquisition of Fiberlink

IBM will expand its MobileFirst applications with Fiberlink's MaaS360.

By CBR Staff Writer

IBM has completed the acquisition of US-based mobile management and security company Fiberlink Communications for an undisclosed sum.

With the transaction, IBM expects to expand its MobileFirst applications with Fiberlink’s MaaS360 offering to deliver a mobile management and security application with new cloud-based capabilities.

The acquisition is said to complement IBM’s plan to expand enterprise mobility management, which includes secure transactions between businesses, partners and customers.

IBM Cloud and Smarter Infrastructure general manager Deepak Advani said with the acquisition of Fiberlink, no other company can match the high level of mobile management and security capabilities that IBM MobileFirst provides across a full range of users.

"Building on Fiberlink’s rapid time to value, clients now gain additional solutions to quickly and confidently embrace mobility," Advani added.

"IBM continues to expand the number of cloud-based services we offer clients to help eliminate barriers to adoption and speed results."

Following the transaction, the MaaS360 is a part of IBM’s Software as a Service (SaaS) portfolio, which includes over 100 cloud services.
