Hughes Network Systems, the provider in broadband satellite networks and services, has been selected by the State of New York to provide a suite of managed services and connectivity under the Comprehensive Telecommunications Services contract, Group 77017, Award 20268.
This Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract is for a term of seven years, and enables authorised users, such as statewide agencies, local governments, and eligible non-profit, educational, and charitable organisations, to purchase telecommunications services provided by Hughes.
Reportedly, under the contract, Hughes provides connectivity services, including Digital Subscriber Line (xDSL), cable-based broadband and fixed wireless. In addition, Hughes provides managed services, including access continuity and internet access; satellite services, including Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSAT), space segment and mobile satellite services, and equipment, installation, operations, and maintenance support.

This IDIQ contract opens the door for them to readily acquire critical applications and services such as continuity of operations, homeland security, distance learning, telework, telemedicine, and more.
