Huawei’s CloudMall solution is being showcased at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.

CloudMall is designed to help operators construct a service-centric internet data centre (IDC) network architecture to improve IDC resource utilisation and the operation capability.

Huawei say the solution can help operators develop new business models based on cloud services and improve their competitiveness in the cloud service industry chain.

Based on the software defined network (SDN) technology, the CloudMall solution is deployed at IDCs in three phases.

First during CloudMall 1.0, Huawei provides the vDC service using the SDN+VxLAN Layer 2 virtualisation technology. The vDC service integrates resources across data centres to improve the resource utilisation.

Then at CloudMall 2.0, Huawei employs E2E Layer 2 private line technologies so as to enable enterprises’ private clouds to access operators’ public clouds. Huawei says that this ensures that enterprise IT systems can evolve into clouds securely and cost-effectively.

Finally during CloudMall 3.0, Huawei enables cloud intercommunication among enterprise private clouds, operator public clouds and third-party public clouds and constructs a B2B cloud integration platform on which enterprise customers can choose cloud services as required. This is based upon cloud interconnection, cloud access, cloud management and cloud application.
