HPE, Schneider Electric deliver on micro data centre partnership

The partnership is to work towards the development of HPE micro data centre.

By Hannah Williams

Schneider Electric and HPE are coming together to address the required infrastructure needed for the hybrid IT environment of the future, teaming on HPE’s recently announced Micro Datacentre.

Previously announced at the end of 2016, the converged infrastructure solution is to provide an end-to-end IT infrastructure, along with networking, storage and management for an architecture for distributed IT environments.

This is to deliver an optimised solution, providing greater scalability and flexibility to meet the new demands of the cloud-enabled, hybrid IT environment of the future.

Schneider Electric will be leveraging its SmartBunker FX, which is put together with HPE storage, network and compute solutions to create the HPE Micro Data Centre, a custom-designed architecture that supports edge environments.

From this, customers will be able to reduce latency towards providing a secure and easy to manage remote data centre environment.

HPEHPE’s Micro Data Centre utilises cloud-enabled HPE ConvergedSystems and HyperConverged, with the inclusion of IoT HPE Edgeline Solutions. These range between sizes 23U and 42U, while the enhanced solution incorporates IT with 1N and 2N power and cooling, environmental and security monitoring in a single-delivery platform.

Kevin Brown, CTO, Schneider Electric-IT Division said: “The growing quantity of data- due in part to the growth of IoT and connected devices- is having a transformational effect on the data centre market and the technologies needed to support it.

“As data is becoming increasingly impactful to data centre performance and business success, edge computing has emerged as a compelling solution to reduce latency, meet IoT processing needs and deliver availability and reliability.”

The physical features available in HPE Micro Data Centre’s custom configurations include, Symmetra UPS with remote management and 5-minute runtime for power, InRow self-contained for Cooling, StruxureWare data centre software for remote management and real time monitoring.

Along with Multi-point, 180-degree locking doors for security and safety-enabled fire-resistant heavy gauge steel construction with thermally insulated walls.

The HPE Micro Data Centre is available immediately across worldwide countries from HPE and channel partners, pricing will vary based on customer configuration.
