HP unveils built-in print function in Samsung devices

HP has unveiled a new built-in print function in Samsung devices allowing users to print from HP network printers.

By CBR Staff Writer

The function will be offered first in the Samsung Galaxy S4, which was revealed last night (14 March), and will be made available as a firmware upgrade to the Galaxy S3 and Note II, to provide wireless printing compatibility.

The company claims the application does not need setup, tools, drivers or network configurations to adjust on the phone and it is said to offer improved printer settings with options like duplex printing, colour, orientation and paper type.

Two ways offered by the application to print are automatically connecting the Samsung mobile device and HP printer on the same local network via Wi-Fi and by using HP technology via wireless direct print.

Samsung print application, which also includes HP ePrint, will be made available on Samsung devices including Email Client, Android Browser, Photo Gallery, Contacts, S Note and Polaris Office, the company said.

HP Inkjet senior vice president Stephen Nigro said: "Customers continue to look for ways to print from their smartphones and tablets."
