Japanese engineering and electronics company Hitachi and virtualisation firm VMware have expanded their strategic partnership to accelerate the deployment of hybrid cloud applications.
Under the new extended partnership, Hitachi plans to join the VMware vCloud Datacenter Services programme and offer these services as a part of the Hitachi cloud application in fiscal year 2013.
The VMware vCloud Datacenter Services are claimed to offer enterprise-class hybrid cloud services to multiple countries around the world.
Hitachi’s social innovation business initiative will provide social infrastructure to support customers with efficient and reliable information and telecommunications system technologies, the company said.
In aadition, Hitachi will also open a VMware Competency Center in December 2012 in Yokohama City in Japan.
The new centre will help accelerating the development of hybrid cloud services based on VMware vCloud Datacenter Services, as well as IT platform products and services that support cloud computing.
Under the technical partnership with VMware, Hitachi will add VMware applications to its premium level of support services, enabling its customers to secure support for their business-critical cloud environments.
Further Hitachi is also expanding its enterprise license agreements with VMware applications globally, and will use them across the company’s global IT systems of the Hitachi Group.
VMware Global Strategic Alliances vice president Gary Green said: "VMware vCloud® Datacenter Services offered by Hitachi will give global customers the ability to use enterprise-class cloud services that are reliable, scalable and secure."
