Single app offers social media, navigation, search and mapping features

By CBR Staff Writer

Location-based mobile social network GyPSii and mapping and navigation firm Telmap have entered into a partnership to develop and introduce location-based social networking as part of Telmap’s Mobile Location Companion.

Under the agreement, Telmap will introduce social networking and user-generated content, to the Telmap5 Mobile Location Companion using GyPSii’s Open API, OpenExperience. Telmap5 will offer users access to contacts across social networks including Facebook and Twitter.

The integration with GyPSii’s Open API enables Telmap5 mobile users to access and contribute location-aware content, share locations, read and post recommendations, videos, pictures, find friends, events and places and geo-blogging in one app, the company said.

In addition, the Telmap5 allows mobile operators to introduce a richer location-enabled offering to subscriber with a single app providing combined social media, navigation, search and mapping features.
