Google takes on Microsoft with free Apps for Work

News: It is estimated that customers can save about 70% of costs by switching to Google Apps for Work.

By CBR Staff Writer

Google is providing incentives for businesses to use Docs rather than Microsoft Word.

The company will give interested customers access to Google Apps for Work for free, while they are still under an enterprise agreement (EA) with another provider.

Google said in a blog post that it will cover the fees related with Google Apps for Work until the customer’s existing contract runs out.

The company will also chip in on some of the deployment costs after the earlier contract’s expiration, and connect the new customer with a Google for Work Partners.

Google Apps for Work head of global sales Rich Rao said: "Once your current EA is up, we offer a simple contract with no traps or gotchas. For a lot of businesses, it’s cheaper, too."

It is estimated that customers can save about 70% of costs by switching to Google Apps for Work.

Earlier this year, Google launched Android for Work aimed at wooing businesses and expanding its reach into workplaces.

The company has also introduced a separate Google Play for Work, which is designed to deploy and manage apps across all users with approval from IT.
