Avon Fire & Rescue Service will implement Fortek Computers’ command and control incident management system, VISION FX, to deal with increased number of inbound calls once it takes over the two control rooms of Devon and Somerset Fire & Rescue Service.
Avon offers emergency and protection services in Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. It currently receives 20,000 incident calls and 38,000 emergency calls per year. The number is expected to double with the take over of the two control rooms.
VISION FX will enable data from all three control rooms to be prepared for integration into Regional Control. The Regional Control project will see the integration of fire services in the South West combine their 999 control rooms to a new site. The emergency calls will be handled at one call centre.
George Godliman, managing director at Fortek Computers, said: “The project at Avon Fire & Rescue Service is effectively using the Regional Control model to ensure interoperability whilst training for the move is progressed. The VISION FX system allows the transition to be a much simpler and smoother process.”
VISION FX has been designed to provide support to all operational tasks including call taking, mobilisation of resources and incident management. It offers a range of user interfaces, providing internal and external users access to critical information, regardless of location. VISION FX supports TETRA, Integrated Telephony CTI and VoIP technologies.
VISION FX identifies the closest and most appropriate resources to each inbound call. It delivers AVLS (Automatic Vehicle Location), and Call Line Identifying (CLI) by integrating the telephony system into VISION.
Norfolk Fire & Rescue and The North Wales Fire and Rescue Service have implemented VISION FX in the past few months.
