Ex-Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer backs Twitter with share buy

News: Owns 4% of the social media giant.

By Alexander Sword

In a Tweet praising new Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey for his recent decision to cut back the workforce at the social media giant, Ballmer revealed that he had bought 4 percent of the company.

"Good job @twitter,@twittermoments innovation, @jack Ceo, leaner, more focused. Glad I bought 4% past few months."

The praise comes after Twitter founder Dorsey, having recently been appointed permanent CEO, sacked 336 employees in an attempt to create a "smaller and nimbler team".

Most of the job losses will apparently come from the Product and Engineering departments at the company.
