Colo Equinix will know if its £2.4 billion deal to acquire British TelecityGroup has the go ahead from EU regulators by October 29.

Telecity said it expects the acquisition process to be completed in the first half of 2016.

According to Reuters, if the European Commission does not approve the deal, the body could launch a full-scale investigation into the transaction.

If the merger gets the go ahead, Equinix is set to become the leading collocation provider in Europe with 9% of the market by square feet with 40 hubs in 11 countries.

Equinix first showed interest in acquiring Telecity in May with a $3.7 billion offer, which led Telecity to drop Interxion’s previous $2.2 billion bid to acquire the company.
