Elitetele.com aims to boost UK network security with move into data centres

The unified communications provider says it has acquired a ‘secret, state-of-the-art’ data centre.

By Duncan Macrae

Elitetele.com has acquired a secret, state-of-the-art data centre in a move that completes Elite’s transition from a switchless reseller to a full ISP with carrier capabilities and multiple data centre facilities.

After a string of high profile network attacks including Domino’s Pizza, Reuters, The Sun and more, CEO Matt Newing, saw this as a potential opportunity to bring better network security to UK businesses.

He commented: "Hosting, the cloud and network connectivity is big business, but security is a concern to many businesses. This is where the market is heading."

Newing added that the highly secure data centre already looks after public sector data and many important global corporations including insurance and finance, which is why he is unable to reveal any details of its location.

With this acquisition, Elite officially launches a full range of data centre services, including managed firewalls, unified threat management, colocation and its very own hosted PBX, Elite Plus Talk, which is embedded within its own recently launched core MPLS Network.

Newing said: "We’ve been acquiring unified comms businesses in recent years to get a decent hold on the hosted and network connectivity market, and now with our own infrastructure we have a serious competitive advantage."

Earlier this year Elite made a further £780,000 investment into its own core network, offering MPLS and private connectivity services to businesses.

Newing continued: "Adding our own security measures and acquiring this data centre completes the solution for our clients and helps companies navigate their way through the minefield that can be buying, installing and securing big networks – we can do it all, plus the voice too."

Along with the new range of products and services now available under Elite’s umbrella, the company is said to have also inherited a highly skilled technical team and a 24/7 Network Operations Centre.
