Dell goes Extreme on new data centre scaling business

News: HP veteran heads the company’s latest data centre effort.

By Joao Lima

Dell has strengthened its data centre strategy with the launch of a new business unit called Extreme Scale Infrastructure (ESI).

The unit is targeted at the hyperscale and sub-hyperscale markets and is where Dell’s Data Centre Solutions (DCS) and Datacentre Scalable Solutions (DSS) will reside.

The firm has also named James Mouton as ESI General Manager. Prior to joining Dell, James was a 25-year veteran of HP where he held a variety of leadership positions.

At Dell, he was previously the SVP of the Business PC Solutions organisation in the Printing and Personal Systems (PPS).

Mouton said: "ESI reflects our commitment to customers and partners, and allows us to better communicate our team’s broad capabilities to uniquely serve our customers.

"We have big plans for ESI in 2016 and I look forward to communicating with [customers] along the way."
