Second facility will be used by "major global cloud infrastructure provider".

By Joao Lima

Data4 opened a second data centre in Milan, adding a further 2,200 m2 of net technical space to the campus.

The company said the Italian hub has now a total capacity of 4,500 m2 and 7.8MW of IT power.

The carrier added that the data centre was built to answer demand from a "major global cloud infrastructure provider".

Olivier Micheli, CEO at Data4 said: "We have succeeded in delivering this latest facility by meeting head-on the challenge of developing a building co-designed in partnership with our customer in a very short timeframe."

Data4 operates 13 data centres in France, Italy and Luxembourg with a total net technical area of 22,000 m2 and 30MW of IT load.
