Colt Technology Services has expanded its SDN-enabled On Demand portfolio by innovating how Ethernet connectivity is supplied.

Colt’s Ethernet On Demand service provides support dynamic real-time ordering, and the provisioning and flexing of high bandwidth connectivity between locations connected to the Colt IQ Network. This network includes over 5,000 enterprise buildings and 200 data centres across 11 countries.

It enables businesses located in Colt-connected enterprise buildings to intelligently meet variable additional demands for high-bandwidth applications. This includes cloud connectivity, disaster recovery, and real-time data backup.

Rajiv Datta, CTO Colt said: “With the expansion of Colt’s On Demand portfolio, Colt is enabling the digital transformation of businesses looking to support their high bandwidth needs.

“Enterprises are now empowered with a self-service portal to take full and intelligent control over their networks.”

Last year, the company announced its plans for a network upgrade, providing its customers with bandwidth levels of up to 100Gbps.

Its new service now gives customers full control and the ability to flex bandwidth requirements at their desired speed with the use of an online customer portal.

The Ethernet On Demand is now available with connectivity services across Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden and UK. Colt also plans to expand its offering across locations in 2017, one of which includes Asia.
