Check Point is pushing enhanced security to private cloud environments following a collaboration agreement with VMware.

The new software-defined data centre offering will integrate Check Point’s vSEC virtual network security with VMware’s NSX network virtualisation platform, offering customers consistent security for all data centre traffic.

The collaboration answers the increased enterprise demand to move security controls inside the data centre – a process which is complex and costly.

No matter the traffic path, be it coming in and out of the data centre, or moving within the data centre between applications, the combination of VMware NSX and Check Point’s vSEC offers full protection against malware, APTs and zero-day attacks.

Looking into how the technology will be deployed, VMware NSX will be delivered as part of the data centre network infrastructure, while Check Point vSEC will be transparently inserted and orchestrated by VMare for advanced traffic inspection.

"Today’s dynamic data centre environments require fast deployment of applications. This means that security services must keep pace with compute resources," said Scott Clinton, senior director, partner product management, networking and security business unit at VMware.

"VMware NSX with Check Point vSEC enables our mutual customers to simplify, accelerate and orchestrate Check Point’s advanced security services across the software-defined data centre."
