Cellcom Israel announces dismissal of purported class action

Cellcom Israel has announced the dismissal with prejudice of the motion for certification as a class action, filed in August 2001 against the company in the District Court of Tel-Aviv-Jaffa, by one of its subscribers.

By CBR Staff Writer

The lawsuit alleged collection of air time tariffs and subscriber fees not in accordance with the agreement with the subscribers.

Had the lawsuit been certified as a class action, the amount claimed was estimated by the plaintiff to be ILS1.26 billion, plus punitive damages at a rate of not less than 100% of the amount of the judgment.
