Security offerings and systems firm Cassidian, an EADS company, has signed a joint development agreement with Alcatel-Lucent.

Under the agreement, both the companies will provide a mobile broadband offering for emergency response and security communications systems operating in the 400MHz spectrum band.

The joint offering will support broadband data services including: mobile video security, location-based video services and smart vehicle integration of devices.

Cassidian will develop radio heads and terminals specific to the needs of these systems in the 400MHz spectrum with low frequency and high power characteristics to provide wide bandwidth services.

Cassidian Systems CEO Herve Guillou said the company is looking to accelerate mobile broadband data capacity for government users and to integrate it within the 400MHz Cassidian Full Circle Security collaborative environment for their Public Safety and Defence users.

"This will combine the strengths of our professional mobile radio offering with the next generation of networks and applications," Guillou said.
