BT has introduced new voice application service, BT One Voice anywhere, which can be downloaded as an app for the Blackberry, iPhone, iPad, Android OS phone and tablet devices.

The new app will enable global travelling employees to take their telephony with them via a "softphone" and use speech to text voicemail translation. It also reduces mobile roaming costs through access to the corporate virtual private network (VPN).

BT One Voice anywhere couples technology with the One Voice global VPN service which extends the benefits of the VPN to users anywhere, using any device, including SIP phones.

This delivers unified communications and collaboration (UCC) capabilities to all users and can help reduce call charges and roaming charges.

The new application utilises BT One Voice VPN to reduce mobile spend for businesses with employees who travel internationally by extending organisations’ phone networks.

One Voice anywhere can integrate with new IP based platforms as well as older communications systems and allows a transparent, managed and integrated UCC environment.

It can also delivered from the cloud and can be embedded in the enterprise grade VPN application, minimising upfront investments or on premise equipment required.

BT Asia Pacific president Kevin Taylor said the One Voice anywhere enterprise app suits corporate users as they increasingly use their smartphones for business voice calls.

"Our customers will be delighted with this innovative new service as this will help optimise costs since businesses are charged as employees roam, retrieve voicemails and accept incoming calls, especially for international travellers," said Taylor.
