BT said that it has been selected by Spanish restaurant and retail operator Grupo Vips, to renew its current communications network.

Under the agreement, BT will provide Grupo Vips with the migration to the new iVPN service, and the advanced voice and data services needed between all of its restaurants across Spain, including TGI Friday’s and Starbucks.

The new five-year agreement, worth €8.2m, includes voice and data services via BT’s iVPN service for Grupo Vips’ 350 establishments including six restaurant chains and ten fine dining restaurants, and more than 10,000 employees.

BT said that the new contract will directly improve the efficiency and quality of communications, management and efficiency of cost structure between the two parties.

Antonio Sanzano, director of communications and infrastructure at Grupo Vips, said: "We’ve chosen BT’s iVPN service because with more than 150,000 customers per day we need to make sure that the connections between our restaurants work at 100% in order to guarantee top level quality service."
