Blockheads rejoice – free Wi-Fi comes to Legoland

New wireless network from The Cloud makes sure that everything is awesome on your visit.

By Vinod

Visitors to the Legoland resort will now be able to post their photos to Twitter and Facebook quicker than ever before following an agreement to supply access to free Wi-Fi while in the park.

The park’s owners, Merlin Entertainments, which also operates attractions including Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, and the London Eye, have signed a deal with BSkyB-owned provider The Cloud to connect the Windsor resort to the latter’s expanding network of free Wi-Fi connections.

Legoland visitors will be able to use the new wireless internet connection as much as they like whilst in the park, and will also be able to use it to access the resort’s Q-bot service, which allows them to reserve their place in queues for certain rides whilst elsewhere in the park.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy a free Legoland Resort application for their smartphones, which can be used to view a map of the park and receive push notifications for exclusive offers for their day out.

Mark Anderson, Legoland’s head of marketing, said: "We want to make sure everyone who visits the Legoland Windsor Resort has a fantastic time with us.

"Being connected is all part of this, with new technologies like Q-Bot changing the way visitors queue. Our guests also like to interact with us throughout the day while they’re in the theme park, especially sharing photos and videos and using our mobile app."

The Cloud has been operated by BSkyB since February 2011, and currently boasts around nine million active users every month. The company operates thousands of Wi-Fi hotspots across the country, including across the London Overground and National Rail network.

Vince Russell, MD of The Cloud, said: "It’s great to see Merlin Entertainments extending WiFi connectivity over more of its sites.

"For LEGOLAND Windsor the benefits of the WiFi are especially clear given its multitude of online services – such as the app, the photo service provided by Picsolve and the Q-bot queuing system. All of these work perfectly over the WiFi."
