BelTelecom selects ZTE to deploy national broadband network project in Belarus

To design and deploy nationwide Fiber-to-the-Home network using GPON technology

ZTE, a provider of telecommunications equipment and network offerings, has been selected by BelTelecom, a national telecoms operator owned by the Belarus government, to deploy national broadband network project in Belarus.

Under the contract, ZTE will use GPON technology to design and deploy a nationwide Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) network for BelTelecom.

The multi-phase project will cover all the seven regions of the country, including the capital of Minsk, with expansion planned for subsequent phases.

Through this project, BelTelecom expects to provide — data and video services; broadband applications such as distance education and telemedicine, across a high-speed Internet infrastructure; and deliver HDTV service to users across the country.

ZTE vice-president Xu Ming said that ever since the company started to supply fixed-line terminals, they have been offering customised products and services.
