The BBC has collaborated with idea management firm Wazoku to launch an in house platform, BBC iCreate, which assists the broadcaster’s production staff to develop and share ideas for new TV programmes.
As part of the programme, BBC has deployed Wazoku’s crowd-sourcing software, which allows capturing staff ideas for TV shows from BBC Production employees based in London, Bristol, Salford, Cardiff, Belfast and Glasgow, while also allowing other staff to comment on the generated ideas.
The software would also capture the most discussed ideas which could then be moved to a formal development process.
BBC Production chief creative officer Pat Younge said that good programming ideas need development, feedback and discussion and employee engagement is a key part of how BBC Production operates.
"We believe we have a wealth of untapped creative talent which BBC iCreate, using Wazoku’s platform customised to our specific needs, can help liberate us to generate some fantastic TV shows," Younge said.
iCreate uses Wazoku’s Idea Spotlight technology, which is cloud-based Software as a Service that assists organisations to capture, discuss and develop the finest ideas.
Wazoku MD and founder Simon Hill said: "This is one of the largest idea management roll-outs in the UK media and for Wazoku to win such a major deal with BBC Production is testament both to the product and team we have developed but also to the growing maturity of idea management in the UK."
