Facebook has introduced a new SDK for tvOS apps that will allow developers to leverage the ‘Log in with Facebook’ feature in their apps.
The feature will allow users to skip the process of manually entering the password for Netflix, Hulu and similar services using Apple TV remote.
With the new technology, users will simply have to go to facebook.com/devices on their computer or smartphone and enter an 8-digit confirmation code to connect the Facebook account with Apple TV.
Apart from Facebook, Google’s video streaming service YouTube’s app can also be connected through Google accounts using a similar method on Apple TV, with a similar mechanism for devices running Android TV.
App developers will also be able to use the SDK for analytics purposes, and developers can integrate Facebook share buttons in their app to share links, photos, and videos.
Facebook said: "A fast and easy way for people to log into your app and for you to provide rich, personalized experiences.
"To log into an app with their Facebook account, people can simply enter a confirmation code displayed on the TV into their smartphone or computer, rather than entering their username and password with the remote."
