Alcatel-Lucent and TE SubCom, a supplier of undersea communications systems and services has expanded their joint maintenance program for submarine optical communication links throughout the Northen Pacific.

The ‘Pacific End-to-End Maintenance Solution’ enable the companies to maintain and repair undersea cables in the northern Pacific region, which support telecommunications clients and other customers seeking marine services.

The marine maintenance services repair damaged submarine network cables that carry data traffic, and restore normal operation, avoiding the disturbances in global communications and commerce.

The cable ships act as a maintenance resource in the northeastern region and provide customers with a single, streamlined marine offering for Pacific operations.

Alcatel-Lucent vice president of Marine Operations of Submarine Networks SAS Michel Bouvard said a successful submarine cable system does not end with the completion of the installation; effective maintenance and timely repair support services are critical for the efficiency of the network throughout its 25-year design life.

"Strengthening our marine presence in the Pacific, the End-to-End Maintenance Solution offers a real advantage for customers, as it provides customers with one point of contact for all their systems in the region, simplifying management of maintenance resources," said Michel.
