Bharti Airtel, a telecom services provider, has launched a corporate mailing product for SMBs across the country. The new offering ‘Airtel Hosted Mail’ is supported by Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.

The company said that the new offering will provide SMBs with an enterprise grade mailing product with an inbox of about 4GB. The new offering will also provide them with a wider range of communication tools than conventional email products – allowing them to share email messages, contacts, calendars, work folders, task list and documents from either their PC or mobile phone.

Coming close on the heels of the launch of Airtel Online Desktop, this adds to Airtel’s SaaS portfolio.

Srinivas, joint president-telemedia services at Bharti Airtel, said: “Continuing our commitment to meet the digital needs of the Indian SMB customer, we are pleased to share another productivity tool with the Airtel Hosted Mail, in partnership with Microsoft. We are confident that our SMB customers across the country will appreciate the affordability, robustness and convenience of this solution over the conventional solutions they are currently using.

Airtel Hosted Mail offers features that include: messaging product based on Microsoft Exchange Server 2007; anti-spam and anti-virus technologies; costs on a per-mailbox/month basis; and customised packages.

Rajan Anandan, managing director of Microsoft India, said: “We believe that an amalgamation of software plus services delivered through the internet can deliver great value to enterprises – thus making owning and managing IT infrastructure more affordable and convenient.”
