AboveNet, a provider of bandwidth connectivity offerings to business and carriers, has expanded its Metro portfolio with the launch of Core Wave services that claims to provide customers with a cost-effective data transport offering.

The company said Core Wave services utilise ROADM (Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer) technology and are based on a metro ring infrastructure, providing wavelength add/drops and inter-ring connectivity with flexible traffic routing. This technology is scalable, with the ability to grow to 40G and 100G.

Core Wave services provide for 1Gbps and higher connectivity between datacentres and/or enterprise locations within a metro area. It features, multi-protocol capability, ethernet, TDM, storage and video; protection options and transparency advantages; fibre access to enterprise locations; and latency guarantee, AboveNet said.
