Miami-based Data Access Corp, author of the DataFlex proprietary language, has developed what it calls a standardised open Applications Programming Interface to support the transparent connection of applications to database management systems: Data Access says that the offering is a single interface that can read and write data from multiple databases and will form an integral part of all existing and future Data Access products; the first database to be supported will, naturally enough, be DataFlex 3.0, but the interface will include full create, read, write and edit capabilities for all supported databases; new products to be based on the interface include Microsoft Corp’s Dynamic Link Library, a C Interface library, and a database driver development kit to enable the interface to access database files that are not supported by Data Access.
