Network security management systems company Dascom Inc hopes The Open Group will approve the standard it has proposed to integrate its security authorization framework within the Public Key Infrastructure. Dascom has been working with IBM Corp on the proposed standard, put forward to the Open Group Requests for Comments 68.4. If the standard gets the go ahead, Dascom’s IntraVerse authorization framework, which enables administrators to say which users can have how much access, will work in conjunction with Public Key Infrastructures provided by the likes of Entrust Technologies Inc. Dascom says organizations, especially those operating in the financial sector have been requesting the establishment of such a standard, and the Open Group has been looking in to it. Dascom should know whether the proposal is approved in the next few weeks.
