The government is expected to set a reserve price for the licences and estimates raising around DKr500 million (E66 million) for each licence. However, it remains to be seen what interest is raised by the auction, especially following unimpressive contests in Belgium, Italy, Austria and Switzerland.
There are four 2G mobile operators in Denmark, with former monopoly carrier Tele Danmark as the leading operator.
