Dallas Semiconductor Corp sees the potential to build a very large business for its new concept of silicon labels, Michael Bolan, vice-president for marketing, told the conference: the labels, which use an embedded chip to log information, were among three products that Bolan listed as growth opportunities for the coming year – the others were its T1 chip and a high-speed microprocessor, which sounds intriguing; Bolan said Dallas Semiconductor expected to ship 5m to 10m of the silicon labels this year – dollar volume on the labels was $2.7m in 1992 and should be much more than double this year, he said We’re looking to build a very large business with them.
