Dallas Semiconductor Corp has a new application for its button chips: it’s latest offering is a durable fugitive emission tag but don’t get the company wrong – we’re not talking about criminals on the run but leaks of noxious or volatile gases; the emission memory tag is claimed to be extremely durable in hostile environments because the touch memory button is encased in stainless steel, and can be attached to valves, pumps, flanges, condensers and compressors and store data to track fluid and gas leaks.
