DAEWOO WORKING TO DEVELOP SYSTEMS COMPATIBLE WITH IBM’S PERSONAL SYSTEM/2 MODELS 30 AND 50

By CBR Staff Writer

Daewoo also says that it is working hard to develop systems compatible with IBM’s Personal System/2 models 30 and 50, and that it is currently working with Faraday and Video 7 on development of custom circuits to emulate the proprietary gate arrays in the IBM machines: the firm says it could build PS/2-alikes now using using discrete components – but that would require motherboards too large for desktop systems; Daewoo won’t try to knock off the design of the 80386-based Model 80 until IBM starts shipping the things.
