D-Link introduces new switches with Web-based management options

New security features, bandwidth management functions, and VLAN support

By CBR Staff Writer

D-Link Middle East & Africa , a provider of enterprise business networking, has introduced smart switches with Web-based management options that are ideal for SMBs seeking enterprise level functionality.

The new DES-1210 and DGS-1210 series includes advanced security features, bandwidth management functions, and VLAN support.

The company said the new series of gigabit and fast ethernet Web smart III switches offer the opportunity to construct a secure and productive network environment at an affordable price.

The Web smart switches includes Web management interface and SmartConsole utility, which provide an intuitive system for administrators to manage a mid-sized network.

In addition, it also strengthens security through the use of access control lists (ACL), ensuring that sensitive network resources are restricted only to authorised users.

The Web smart switches detect and block intruders that attempt to sniff data or send fake ARP packets that could disrupt network traffic.

D-Link said that the new offering can be deployed as a primary core for optimal performance, giving administrators control over security, bandwidth, and topology.

Alternatively, these switches can be deployed at the network edge to manage and eliminate bandwidth constraints while enhancing security.

The company said that the Web smart switches streamline bandwidth using Quality of Service (QoS) optimisations to shape and manage traffic while Asymmetric VLAN support allows these switches to direct unlike or unequal bandwidth across different VLANs.
