Cyrix Corp will later this month add a 133MHz version of its 6×86 microprocessor as an alternative to Intel Corp’s 166MHz Pentium, PC Week says. The 133MHz 6×86 should offer performance comparable with that of the 166MHz Pentium by virtue of its super-pipelining and register renaming, features that are found in the Pentium Pro, but not in the Pentium.
