Cypress Semiconductor Corp has just got the first silicon on the HyperSparc CPU, according to Electronic Engineering Times, and it’s reportedly almost completely functional: that gives Cypress two of the three pieces it needs to complete the chip set – the 620 CPU chip and 627 cache static RAM; still lacking is the 625 memory management unit and cache, which is to be a redesign of an older model that gave it trouble and caused it delays in the past.
